A group of Filipino militants aligned with the Islamic State have posted a video showing four kidnapped foreign nationals.

According to CNN, the video appears to show four hostages, three men and a woman, who are believed to be those taken from the Oceanview Resort in the Southern Philippines on Sept. 21.

In the video the four hostages sit in a row on the ground, in front of a group of at least eight men armed with guns and machetes. There are also banners on display, which seem to showcase the emblems associated with the ISIS terrorist organization.

The men, who identify themselves as Robert Hall, Kjartan Sekkingstad and John Ridsdel, are made to speak to the camera. They confirm that they were abducted from the resort last month, and plead with the Canadian and Philippines governments to stop all military action in the Filipino province of Mindanao or else their lives will be in danger. The fourth hostage, a Filipino woman, remains silent.

A militant masked with scarf and sunglasses reiterates hostages' request in English, saying negotiations can commence once their demands are met. The group then raises their guns while chanting in Arabic.

Col. Restituto Padilla, spokesman for the Armed Forces of the Philippines, gave no comment to the identity of the kidnappers but said they are investigating the video.

"As of now our current (military) posture is still the same," Padilla said. "(Our) posture remains, where our troops are, where our police are, they will remain to be where they are."

The Filipino Presidential Communications Secretary Sonny Coloma said the Philippines government would work to "ensure their safety and secure their release and all actions emanate from this."

Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs said they were aware of the Canadian citizens' capture and were working with the country's government toward their release.

"Canadian officials are in close contact with Filipino authorities and have been pursuing all appropriate channels to seek further information.‎ The Government of Canada will not comment or release any information which may compromise ongoing efforts and risks endangering the safety of Canadian citizens abroad," said a spokesperson.
