CD Projekt Red is delaying the release of the much awaited RPGS to next year after being initially slated for a 2014 release.

In an open letter posted on the Polish game developer's website, Marcin Momot said that the decision was made after reexamining what they have achieved so far.

"The decision we made was difficult, thoroughly considered, and ultimately clear and obvious. We could have released the game towards the end of this year as we had initially planned," said Momot.

"Yet we concluded that a few additional months will let us achieve the quality that will satisfy us, the quality gamers expect from us. Consequently, we have set the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for February 2015," he added.

According to the open letter, the developers have pored over to make The Witcher 3 a game worthy their 11 years of game developing experience.

"... we have wanted The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to expand creative boundaries, set new benchmarks, develop the genre as a whole. Ultimately, you, the players, must get an unforgettable adventure to experience in a vast, open world - and that's most important. We've created a story that flows naturally, cinematically, rendered it in amazing sound and visuals, while preserving full freedom of choice - all for you," Momot detailed.

Because of this, the title would entail "manual fine tuning" and "thorough testing" in its final stages, the open letter notes.

However, even though the much awaited role playing game has been delayed, CD Projekt Red assures that it will be "exceptional, one of the best" and will provide "many hours of wonderful entertainment."

GameSpot previously reported that the game is 35 times the size of its predecessor and is an open-world adventure, without acts and chapters. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the last of CD Projekt Red's The Witcher series.
