Chicago Bulls superstar point guard Derrick Rose is the current face of the Chicago Bulls franchise but has only scored single digits in the last three games. According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the Bulls are starting to wonder if they will end the Rose-era in Chicago.

"The Derrick Rose breakup with the Bulls has begun. I don't know how long it's going to last. I don't know when it's going to be complete, but you can sort of see it. The team and the franchise have moved on to a little bit of a certain extent. His attitude has been not terrific and the comments that he made about his contract in 2017," Windhorst said as quoted by Complex Sports.

There has been a sort of disconnect between the Bulls and the former MVP in the past couple of years, per NBC Sports. During his recovery from a torn ACL on his left knee, his brother Reggie Rose said that the Chicago front office has not done a great a job in adding talent around his brother.

The report noted that the Bulls are said to be very disappointed with Rose during the 2014 Free Agency when he did not try to recruit Carmelo Anthony and are worried about the lack of communication between them and their franchise superstar.

Earlier in the offseason, The Chicago Sun-Times reported that even though Jimmy Butler considers Rose as a friend, he is not happy about his teammate's work ethic. According to sources, Butler still thinks Rose is the face of the franchise, but he needs to start acting like one by being an example in the court and during practice.

NBC Sports added that Butler has surpassed the 2011 MVP as the Bulls' best player and they have a lot of role players in Pau Gasol, Taj Gibson, Nikola Mirotic and Joakim Noah. Rose still has two years left on the five-year, $94 million contract he signed last 2012, per Spotrac.

He still has $41 million left on that contract and it may make it difficult if the Bulls would want to trade him. Rose is set to become a free agent in 2017 and has hinted that he wants to have the largest payday as possible.

"I'm preparing for it. This whole summer I had tunnel vision. My mindset was just making sure that I was working out and spending time with my son. Also making sure my family is financially stable, as far as seeing all the money that they're passing out in this league. Just knowing that my day will be coming up soon," Rose said via CBS Chicago.
