Sony started tinkering with the display quality of its Xperia lineup back in late 2014 with the Xperia Z3. Its predecessor, the Xperia Z2, was a top-tier smartphone that surprisingly displayed accurate colors. The Xperia Z3 was still an impressive device, but its visual output had a much bluer hue.

Fast-forward to late 2015, the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact don't suffer from the same color problem. Furthermore, owners of the current-generation flagship phones have a nifty display option that can improve color accuracy on the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact even more, Phone Arena reported.

Here's how it's done:

  1. Start by navigating to the Settings menu then tick Display and disable Adaptive Brightness.
  2. Now, go to the Brightness Level setting and set the brightness to a level that's just right for your eyes. It is recommended that the brightness level shouldn't be too bright nor too dark. A point slightly after the middle of the slider is the preferred level.
  3. Go back to the Display settings where there's an option called White Balance. Tap on it and three sliders will appear, one for each primary color. Move the red slider until the white area shown on screen loses its cool look. It should become warm, natural, and pleasant to the eye, without that blue-ish hue it has by default. But you also don't want to make your screen too warm either. Experiment with the slider until your eyes settle on a particular visual setup.
  4. Hit Save to apply the changes then exit. You can re-enable Adaptive Brightness whenever you see fit.

On the third step, Phone Arena set the Xperia Z5 to a value of 90. However, no two screens are realistically alike. Your Xperia Z5 or Z5 Compact might need less or more fine-tuning, but not to the extremes. Aside from that, you're good to go. Did you find these tips helpful?
