Microsoft has a new promotion where you can get a free game of your choice if you purchase a new Xbox One bundle now through Nov. 21.

As stated on the official Xbox website, the package is now being offered at several physical retailers and e-commerce sites in the U.S. You can get the new Xbox One bundle with a free game at Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target and the Microsoft Store.

The aforementioned retailers also have their own unique Xbox One deals. It's highly recommended that you browse through all of them first before deciding on what bundle suits you best. If you're new to this sort of thing, bear in mind that a 500 GB Xbox One bundle generally retails for $350 this holiday season. Meanwhile, the 1 TB version costs $400, the same price for a 500 GB Xbox One bundle with Kinect.

A typical Xbox One bundle includes a console, controller and one free game. Microsoft's new promotion includes all that plus another free game. Participating retailers have priced their offers differently. Furthermore, the bundles that include freshly released games such as "Halo 5: Guardians" tend to cost $50 to $100 more.

Microsoft's new promotion comes at a bustling time for new releases. It can be recalled that AAA titles like "Halo 5: Guardians," "Call of Duty: Black Ops III," "Fallout 4" and "Rise of the Tomb Raider" have all launched in the last few weeks. Not only that, "Star Wars Battlefront" will be arriving this Tuesday, Nov. 17.

Microsoft and the Xbox One enter the pivotal holiday season with some momentum as the console sold more units than the PS4 in the U.S. during October.

Marketing research company The NPD Group released last week its console sales report for October 2015. The report did not divulge exact sales numbers for both hardware, but Microsoft said in a statement to GameSpot that it was the Xbox One that came out on top.

"The strength of the greatest games lineup in Xbox history drove record Xbox Live usage for October and made Xbox One the best-selling console in the U.S. with 81 percent growth compared to October 2014," said Xbox marketing chief Mike Nichols.

Overall console sales were down $1 million from the same time last year, but current figures are still very impressive. This is due to the sales of portable gaming systems dropping as much as 27 percent, increasing the sales of consoles to three percent in the process.

"This was due entirely to 8th generation console hardware sales, which rose by 12 percent to offset the 66 percent decrease in hardware sales for 7th generation consoles," said NPD analyst Liam Callahan through VentureBeat.
