Leading up to its release in early September, the Moto X Pure Edition was listed as having support for LTE band 12. When it eventually shipped to the masses, the particular support was nowhere to be found. Motorola then clarified that the device will soon have the capability as soon as some software issues are ironed out.

Considering the commotion surrounding the Moto E and the ouster of its LTE band 12 support, many doubted if the Moto X Pure Edition would ever actually have the support on T-Mobile. Now, there's some good news to share.

Motorola Mobility software product chief David Schuster recently indicated on his Google+ account that the Android 6.0 update for the Moto X Pure Edition will also bring support for T-Mobile's LTE band 12. The magenta carrier has been heavily advocating band 12, which it uses for its Extended Range LTE service.

T-Mobile's LTE band 12 employs the 700MHz range. The lower frequency spectrum moves farther and pierces through buildings better than higher-frequency airwaves, PhoneArena reported.

At the moment, T-Mobile is still going through the approval process for the Android 6.0 update for the Moto X Pure Edition. As far as Motorola is concerned, Schuster expects the company to push the update out in the next few weeks.

Schuster also posted some of the patch notes of the Android 6.0 update on his official Google+ web page.

Aside from carrying visual enhancements, the firmware adds new features such as Google Now on Tap and Doze. The former delivers contextual information on screen when users long press on the home button. Meanwhile, the latter is a new battery management feature that can detect if the device is not being used. It will then prompt the Android 6.0 handset to go into a deep sleep in order to save more battery life.

Power efficiency doesn't stop there. A capability called App Standby optimizes power usage by shutting down rarely used apps. Users can decide what apps are put on deep idle mode.

The implementation of app permissions has been reconfigured. Usually, an app asks permission for all of its processes in one bundle. Now, permission required to use a certain feature of an app will only be requested at the time the feature will be in use.

The Android 6.0 update will roll out as an OTA for T-Mobile's version of the Moto X Pure Edition. Subscribers might receive it earlier than others, depending on time zones and region.

The Moto X Pure Edition sold in the U.S. is known elsewhere around the globe as the Moto X Style. The latter has been receiving the Android 6.0 update in Brazil and India since last week.
