One of the longest running sitcoms in television history is finally airing its series finale. How I Met Your Mother will end its ninth season with its 23rd and final episode. A lot of avid viewers of the show are emotional about the show ending. It seems like only yesterday when the first episode was aired. However, after several years and nine seasons, they have finally decided to put an end to it. The last episode will be a one-hour run.

For this last episode, Ted will finally end his storytelling to the kids and reveal how he met their mother. According to the creators, the kids, played by Lyndsy Fonseca and David Henrie, will make an appearance on the show's finale. In fact, it would be great to see them finally get off the couch on which they have sat for almost a decade now.

Aside from the kids, other guest appearances for the series finale include Judith Drake, Marshall Manesh, Joe Nieves, Saudia Rashed, Courtney Hope Turner, Alexandria Skaltsounis, Patrick Kang and Kerrigan Milker. According to the co-executive producer of the show, Craig Thomas, the series finale is really a great way to end the sitcom.

As the trailer of the show says, "You've laughed with them. You've cried with them. Now it's time to say goodbye. And let them surprise you just one last time." This line made more people anticipate the ending as well as feel very sad that the show that they have laughed with for years is finally coming to an end. In the last episode, many people wonder how the storyline about the mother and all of Ted's friends will finally be wrapped up. Others say with such a storied run it doesn't matter how the series will end. There are a lot of theories brewing on how the show will close.
