The New York Yankees are working on their roster weaknesses this offseason and have conducted trade talks involving Andrew Miller. According to a report by Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Yankees are willing to deal their lights out closer.

The report adds that the Yankees value Miller a lot and put a very high price tag on him, considering he won the 2015 Reliever of the Year award for the American League. The team's prime need is a starting pitcher, who can be paired with Masahiro Tanaka at the top of the rotation.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports confirmed via Twitter that the Detroit Tigers talked to the Yankees regarding a possible trade involving the left-handed closer, but they were put off by the very high asking price. NJ Advance Media noted that the Tigers had six young prospects that were acquired from the David Price and Yoenis Cespedes trades last season.

Detroit opted with Milwaukee Brewers closer Francisco Rodriguez as they acquired him by trading prospect Javier Betancourt and a yet-to-be-named player. Yahoo! Sports reported that "K-Rod" is a better cost-effective option for the Tigers because he revived his career in Milwaukee by saving 82 games in the last two seasons with a $5.5 million salary in 2016 and a $6 million team option for 2017.

New York Daily News insisted that the Yankees should trade Miller for the right price where they would get a big return. The report said that it should be the same gain as the San Diego Padres when they traded closer Craig Kimbrel to the Boston Red Sox last week for four minor league prospects.

The report also mentioned that Miller has three more years left on his contract that was signed last season with $27 million remaining. The Yankees only shed $12 million from their current payroll that took them out of contention for David Price and Zack Greinke. Also, the front office is not planning on signing a free agent with draft pick compensation, so Jeff Samardzija and Wei-Yin Chen are also off their target list.

Bleacher Report suggested a trade scenario where the Yankees send Miller and outfielder Brett Gardner to the Washington Nationals for setup man Drew Storen and starting ace Stephen Strasburg, who is going to be a free agent next year.

Whatever the plan is for the Yankees, they will need a starting pitcher. Do you see them trading Miller? Will they change their plans and chase big-name free agents? Give us your thoughts below.
