While most Android phones are still waiting on official OTA rollouts of the latest operating system from Google, Android M or Android 6.0 Marshmallow, CyanogenMod has announced that CyanogenMod 13 (CM13 nightly) is already running Marshmallow and available for download to a handful of Android devices.

"We've been pretty quiet publicly on the CM13 (Marshmallow) progress," wrote CyanogenMod by way of announcing the release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow on its blog (via AndroidPolice), "but we've been busy bees behind the scenes."

"Today, we've enabled the first wave of devices to receive CM13 nightlies," or the nightly-updated builds of CyanogenMod's latest custom Android ROM, running Android M.

CyanogenMod listed the first devices, along with their specific model names and numbers, that are part of that first rollout of CM13 Android 6.0 Marshmallow releases. There are seven lucky first wave devices in total, so far:

OnePlus One - "bacon"

Nexus 7 - "deb" and "flow"

Moto X 2014 - "victara"

LG G4 - "h815"

Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 - "mondrianwifi"

LG G Pad 7.0 - "v 400" and "v410"

LG G3 Verizon - "vs985"

CyanogenMod acknowledged that the "device roster is starting small," but promised it would grow over the next few weeks. "That's a decent spread of OEMs and a bit all over the place," added Cyanogen in its announcement. "But as stated, we're working on our other [CM] 12.1 devices and this list will grow rapidly."

If you're not familiar with CyanogenMod, or flashing custom ROMs to unlocked Android devices, this Android 6.0 Marshmallow update rollout is not for you. CyanogenMod custom Android ROMs require unlocking the bootloader on devices before installation, which can void factory warranties in many cases -- and in every case, requires some technical experience and knowhow.

However, if you do have one of the devices listed and are already running CM nightly, you can upgrade to Android M via CM13 as if it were a regular OTA update, as soon as you see the CM13 update notification. Or you can manually download the update and flash CM13 from CyanogenMod's nightly downloads page here.
