A condom balloon challenge is the latest viral video challenge to sweep the Internet.

Over the years, there have been a number of such viral videos, such as the ice bucket challenge and cinnamon swallowing challenge.

The latest, the condom balloon challenge, began making the rounds about a week ago. The videos feature teens filling up condoms with water, tying them like water balloons, and dropping them on their friends' heads, according to The Guardian.

The original video posted on Twitter was retweeted 9,000 times. Once the first video went viral, several copycat videos began surfacing.

The videos are hilarious because, unlike a regular water balloon, condoms stretch to accommodate the water, allowing the balloons to remain intact as they fall and cover the victim's head. In most of the videos, the balloons end up stretching over teens' faces, before popping after a few seconds, causing everyone in the room to laugh uncontrollably. However, not all the attempts at this condom balloon challenge have been successful.

This challenge, while humorous, doesn't seem like the safest viral trend. The water filled condoms could stretch over a teen's airways, making breathing difficult or even suffocating someone. The risks have not stopped many teens from trying their hand at the challenge all the same.

While the ice bucket challenge raised money for The ALS Association, this challenge is purely for fun. There is, however, an official Twitter account dedicated to posting incoming videos of people attempting the condom challenge.

In 2013, another condom challenge hit the Internet involving teens snorting condoms. Neither of these challenges should be encouraged, but when teens find  a viral trend, they're sure to follow the crowd.
