Next week's all-new episode of "The Vampire Diaries" will be intense as Stefan will find out that Caroline is carrying Alaric's unborn twins.

The synopsis for the upcoming episode, which is titled "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me," suggests that Caroline and Stefan will face new challenges that may hurt their relationship.

"As Julian (guest star Todd Lasance) and Lily (guest star Annie Wersching) throw a party to celebrate Mary Louise (guest star Teressa Liane) and Nora's (guest star Scarlett Byrne) anniversary, Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) set in motion a risky plan to eliminate a new threat posed by Julian. Meanwhile, following a major revelation uncovered by Valerie (guest star Elizabeth Blackmore), Caroline (Candice King) is forced to face her new reality, even as it threatens to destroy her relationship with Stefan," reports CarterMatt.

Although Caroline's pregnancy may hurt her relationship with Stefan, it may also help her and Alaric form a stronger bond, which could explain how they ended up getting engaged in a flash-forward scene.

However, although Alaric and Caroline will get engaged, there may still be hope for "Steroline" since the couple may run into relationship trouble later down the line.

"Yes, Alaric is the one who put the ring on Caroline's finger, but that doesn't mean they're living happily ever after. In an upcoming flash-forward, we'll see that perhaps everything isn't perfect between the couple," reports Entertainment Weekly.

Meanwhile, TVLine's Ausiello teased that the vampire drama will cast a new character named Alex, who is "described as being warm-until-crossed." The untrustworthy character also runs a "mysterious organization" that will be introduced in the series.

In other news, The Hollywood Reporter reports that both "The Vampire Diaries" and its spinoff series "The Originals" will begin airing on Fridays, starting on Jan. 29.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 Episode 8 premieres on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
