The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is beginning to roll out to a few non-Nexus phones by now, so the first question on everyone's mind is when their device will get the upgrade.

The 2015 phablet flagship from Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, appears to be getting Android M in a very short while, if rumor reports based on a leak are correct.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 appeared in a leaked document as model number SM-N920G, according to Neurogadget (via IBTimes) late last week.

The document appeared to have a date stamp of Nov. 15, 2015 with a status marked as "uploading," which doesn't confirm if the Galaxy Note 5 update is finished yet, but gives a good impression that Samsung is in the late stages of the upgrade testing process.

Despite being unconfirmed, rumors based on the leak have the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Android 6.0 Marshmallow rollout happening sometime in December 2015.

It's also rumored that the Galaxy Note 5 will be getting its Marshmallow at the same time as Samsung's other big 2015 flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S6 Edge+, which seems to make sense, given how close those two Samsung phones are in both release date and hardware. The smaller Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are expected to follow the Galaxy Note 5 with an update in Jan. 2016.

Samsung has announced that these phones will all be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but hasn't officially given any word as to the timing of an OTA rollout yet, so all of these rumored release dates and leaks should be taken with a healthy grain of salt.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow doesn't include a complete facelift as Android 5.0 Lollipop introduced, but it does come with a lot of improvements to Google's mobile OS under the hood.

New features of Android M include "Doze" mode, a power-saving mode that kicks in whenever the phone is idle, more granular control over individual app permissions by default, and the return of "Silent" mode.
