GoPro has decreased the price of the Hero4 Session action camera by another $100, leaving the total price at $200. This is the second price drop on the device since September.

The GoPro Hero4 Session started at $400 when it was released in July, but it failed to sell at that price, CNet reports. In September, it was reduced to $300, and now it is being marked down even further.

The GoPro Hero4 Session is a smaller, simpler camera than other GoPro units, but it lacks features that many of the other cameras have. Compared to the GoPro Hero4 Silver, the GoPro Hero4 Session has less capabilities, but they were initially priced at the same $400 level.

The GoPro Hero4 Silver offers better photo quality, with 12 megapixels (MP) instead of 8 MP with the GoPro Hero4 Session. Additionally, the Silver model allows 4K video, as well as professional grade low-light performance, while the Session offers neither.

The top of the line GoPro Hero4 Black is just $100 more than the Silver at $500. That model offers way more features than the GoPro Hero4 Session. When GoPro performed its first price reduction on the Session to $300, a representative said the repricing was based on feedback from customers and retailers.

The GoPro Hero4 Session features a simple cube design without the housing that most GoPro cameras have. Now that it is priced at the $200 level, it is easier to justify purchasing it. It offers more features than the GoPro Hero+, which carries the same price.

The GoPro Hero4 Session is especially made to be taken on-the-run for instant shooting with hardly any preparation.

GoPro is going head-to-head with Polaroid with the device. Polaroid sells the $150 Cube+ camera, which is very similar to the Session.

In fact, the devices are so similar that Polaroid actually believes that GoPro infringed on their patent. The company is filing a lawsuit against its rival.

Buyers who purchased the Hero4 Session back in July for $400 have to feel like they overpaid now. That camera is really only worth $200.
