Starwood Hotels & Resorts Eyes Thailand for Next Expansion
Starwood Hotels & Resorts is expected to commemorate the unveiling of the new Sheraton Phuket Grand Bay resort in Thailand in January 2019.
According to Business Wire, the company confirmed this after they signed an agreement with Grand Bay Hotel Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Apex Development Public Co., Ltd.
In a statement given by Rajit Sukumaran of Starwood Hotels & Resorts as quoted by Business Class, he said, "We look forward to partnering with Grand Bay Hotel Co., Ltd. to expand Starwood's robust footprint in Thailand.
"With its idyllic beaches and lush rainforests, Phuket draws an unwavering number of inbound and domestic travelers, making it a strategic market for Sheraton and further driving formidable growth for Starwood in Asia Pacific," Sukumaran added.
Business Wire noted that Sheraton Phuket Grand Bay Resort will be located in Northeast Phuket in the Grand Bay area. If you're coming from the Phuket International Airport, it will take you around 25 minutes to reach the Sheraton Phuket Grand Bay Resort. The hotel and resort will boast a beachfront view and a hillside location that will significantly give the place a perfect panorama of the Andaman Sea. The resort is also expected to have at least 200 rooms with all their signature amenities and services in tow.
Sheraton Phuket Grand Bay Resort will be the sixth installment of the Sheraton portfolio created by Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Thailand. The company's other hotels include Sheraton Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Sheraton Hua Hin Pranburi Villas, Sheraton Hua Hin Resort & Spa, Sheraton Samui Resort and Sheraton Pattaya Resort.
The CEO of Grand Bay Hotel Co., Ltd., Pongphan Sampawakoop, also believes that their partnership with Starwood will renew their strengths in building a successful venture in the Phuket region. Along with the Sheraton brand, they will be able to make an impressive project backed by the hospitality given to them by Phuket.
Some of the key amenities of the hotel and resort includes dining venues that will cater customers with three different preferences, a 1,326-square-meter events place, a fitness center, an outdoor swimming and the most common and highly sought service in every hotel -- a luxurious spa. All of these are expected to be in full swing when the venture materializes by January of 2019.
What do you think of Starwood Hotels & Resorts' new venture in Thailand? Will you consider staying in the place someday?
