Hyundai's IONIQ model is yet to launch at the Geneva Motor Show in March, but that did not stop the giant car maker from releasing some information about the latest model.

According to TechnoBuffalo, aside from the revealed concept details of the car, Hyundai finally admits that the IONIQ model is their product that will take over the Toyota PRIUS. Such bold announcement for the hybrid car is backed by three choices:  a plug-in hybrid, hybrid powertrains and electric hybrid. The latest from Hyundai's announcement also covers most of the IONIQ model's design concept and its capacity while on the road.

According to Car and Driver Blog, they highly associate the size of the new Hyundai IONIQ to that of Elantra and Sonata. With a 53 percent high-strength steel structure, the IONIQ model can definitely hold the aluminum hood, hatchback and suspension components that make up its strength. The Hyundai IONIQ engine is composed of 1.6-liter direct-injected Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder that literally creates 104 horsepower and 108 lb. ft of torque.

Under the rear seat lies the lithium polymer battery pack and its magnet electric motor, which can hold 43 horsepower and 125 lb-ft. Instead of using the CVT, the Hyundai IONIQ sends you to the front wheels by using a six-speed dual clutch automatic.

Hyundai might be dealing with an all-out marketing strategy after unveiling three types of the hybrid car. Their move to provide options certainly tells how much they want to deliver the latest model to the masses. More options mean more market sales.

Since The Hyundai IONIQ is set to launch on March, PRIUS currently holds the reign until such time that Hyundai delivers and consumers determine which of the two is better. Hyundai has not revealed the actual price of the car and if there will be a significant difference between the three options.

Hyundai is not the only car maker unveiling its latest model to the public. Recently, per Latin Post, Nissan announced the upcoming arrival of its Kicks Crossover, which is said to be manufactured in Brazil. Nissan has also invested on their Repende plant in order to house the manufacturing of the said car.

Latin Post also previously reported that BMW revealed its i8 mirrorless car concept amidst news of their continual supply of diesel engine cars in the U.S.

Toyota has not made a statement about this new revelation from Hyundai, until then, PRIUS will remain one of the top hybrid cars globally.
