Jennifer Lopez Free Concert in the Bronx: An Unbelievable Success [Videos]
So Jenny came back to the block yesterday and rocked the stage!
Jennifer Lopez's free concert launching State Farm's Neighborhood Sessions in her native Bronx took place last night, June 4. The diva, who often is criticized for not doing much other than shoot music videos in her hometown, proved that her roots will always be Nuyorican.
Jennifer appeared at Orchard Beach in Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx. She opened the Uptown show with one of her new hits "Same Girl" from her upcoming album "A.K.A," out June 17. This is the first time the Puerto Rican star had ever performed a free concert back home and, well, we're glad the time finally came.
J.Lo gave a full on 90-minute performance with outfit changes and a number of hot male dancers. Wonder how thrilled Casper Smart is by that one, as it was rumored that he "prefers" that Jennifer doesn't work with too many male dancers (since that's what he was -- and Chris Judd). Anyway, this free concert was not just a one microphone cheapity-chapity event; it was as glamorous as any other flashy paid concert.
Jennifer even performed in a body suit replica of that unforgettable Grammy's 2000 dress which she also brought back in the "I Luh You Papi" video and during the song's performance again last night. Faux fireworks, flames and lasers also lighted the stage making the Wednesday show quite the extravaganza. Singing her classic hits "Love Don't Cost a Thing" to "If You Had My Love" to "Waiting for Tonight," Jennifer definitely brought us back to "On the 6" straight to J.Lo. She also performed some of her new hits, even giving a full-on performance of "Big Booty," one of the most talked-about songs on her upcoming album.
"Don't you just love Bronx summers?" J.Lo gushed. "It's a dream come true." The singer also had some impressive guests, including rapper Ja Rule, French Montana (Khloé Kardashian was backstage, by the way) and Fat Joe, who even performed his own throwback hit "Lean Back." Although some reports say that Jennifer's voice (which is always criticized) didn't sound as great in the "smaller speakers," the concert was a total success. Jennifer closed the show with, of course, "Jenny from the Block."
Take a look for yourself.
