The Hotel Posada del Sol is one of North America's most haunting sites. The abandoned hotel was a project by Fernando Saldana Galvan in an attempt to create the most extravagant and unique artistic center in Mexico City.

The hotel has gardens, patios, casinos, a theater and more, occupying more than half a block.

The hotel was never completely built after construction was shut down in 1945. Rumors suggest Galvan was also practicing satanic rites inside the hotel. Fernando, who was devastated and was racking up a mountain of debts, hung himself in the hotel's courtyard.

It is widely believed that the spirit of a dead young girl roams the chambers of the hotel. A dark room in the hotel reportedly serves as an altar of the missing girl. The girl's murder is still not solved to this day.

We will never know what goes inside the hotel as it is illegal to visit the site. Posada Del Sol can only be enjoyed from the outside.

The Hospicio was built during the 19th century and served as an insane asylum, military barracks, and an orphanage. The marvelous building is the center of horror, pain, and tragedy. Legend says the wall clock inside the property would stop ticking every time a child lost his or her life.

The Island of Dolls is perhaps the most famous (infamous?) haunted place in Mexico City.

The isolated island was rumored to have been the creation of Don Julian Santana who hung the dolls to fend off evil spirits after he found a drowned girl in the lake. Santana drowned in the same place he found the girl years later.

Travelers who have been to the island say they've seen the dolls move their eyes or talk. There are also rumors about the dolls luring visitors to travel the island.

House of Laments Guanajuato

The house is well-known for the numerous brutal murders committed by the owner, Tadeo Mejia. The murders were committed when Mejia consulted a witch who told him to perform human sacrifices so he can talk to his wife who was killed during a home invasion.

To this day, no one knows how many fell victim to Mejia's hands. Tadeo died after he attempted to perform a devilish surgery on himself.

Visitors who come to the house, which was turned into a  museum, report sightings, and unexplainable sounds.

The mummified bodies were discovered after authorities dug up a local cemetery. The bodies came from the graves of people whose relatives couldn't afford to pay the grave tax from 1865 to 1958.

The corpses came out as perfectly mummified bodies due to the extremely dry conditions of the soil. The bodies were kept underground in an ossuary until it ad racked up enough bodies that it branded itself as a museum.

The museum houses numerous corpses, including the pregnant mummy and child mummies. The local ossuary also holds "the world's smallest mummy" which is as big as a loaf of bread.

Rumors say the mummies move, whisper and weep.
