Demi Lovato reveals that her near-fatal drug overdose was much serious in a trailer for her upcoming four-part docuseries entitled, "Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil." The docuseries was directed by Michael D. Ratner.

Lovato said she wants to set the record straight as for the couple of years she has heard stories about her life and what people think has happened, especially when she was overdosed in 2018, according to a New York Post report.

The 28-year-old pop star added that if it can help someone, she hopes that it can as it was ultimately her purpose to putting the docuseries.

Demi's previous struggle with overdose

The former child star was taken to hospital in July 2018 after being found unconscious at her Los Angeles residence. The overdose was a combination of opioids laced with fentanyl and came a month after she revealed she had broken six years of sobriety, according to a BBC report.

She revealed that there were lasting effects of the overdose that took place in 2018, such as having blind spots in her vision, which resulted in her not being able to drive.

"For a long time, I had a really hard time reading. It was a big deal when I was able to read a book, which was like two months later, because my vision was so blurry," Lovato was quoted in a report.

Lovato said she snapped despite her rising success at the time, with two chart-topping songs and having just been nominated for a Grammy, which are Sorry Not Sorry and Skyscraper.,

The also managed to top the UK chart in May 2018 with the song Solo.

A month after she released a song titled Sober, in which she said that she was not sober anymore. The overdose came weeks later then.

Lovato said in a trailer that she wants to set the record straight about what it was that had happened, adding that she had a lot of lives. The pop star said that like her cat, she is on her ninth life, according to a Variety report.

Fight against eating disorder

Lovato has been outspoken about her struggles with mental health and addiction throughout her career as what was shown in a 2012 documentary Stay Strong. She was also candid about her daily battle with eating disorders, self-harm, mental health issues, as well as addiction.

Lovato continued to say in one interview that her eating disorder got worse and worse and that she asked for help and did not receive the help that she needed. At one point, she said that she was in an unhappy position, adding that she is six years sober yet miserable, according to a People report.

The docuseries will also cover other topic such as her alleged heroin use, engagement to actor Max Ehrich, and her current sobriety.

Her documentary will be up on YouTube for free with two episodes available on March 23, which will be followed with more episodes weekly.
