Lindsey Vonn became the most successful World Cup skier on Monday after breaking the all-time record for number of wins in Italy, and her boyfriend, Tiger Woods, was there to witness the historic feat.

Vonn won the super-G race in Cortina d'Ampezzo in Italy to tally her 63rd World Cup victory, breaking the 62-win record set by Austrian skiing legend Annemarie Moser-Pröll.

Vonn, who tied the record with a downhill race victory on Sunday, had a flawless run at the tough Olympia delle Tofane course, finishing 0.85 seconds faster than Anna Fenninger of Austria and 0.92 seconds faster than Tina Weirather of Liechtenstein.

"I was a kid, but I think I said I want to be the greatest ski racer ever," Vonn said after winning the race via NBC Sports. "As an adult, I didn't really know if it would ever come true. It seems I'm getting closer to that point."

The 2010 Olympic downhill champion reached the historic mark just months after recovering from two major knee injuries, which derailed her chances of breaking the World Cup record last year. Vonn also failed to defend her Olympic title in Sochi last year because of the ACL tear in her right knee.

"That's an unbelievable comeback," United States Alpine director Patrick Timl said of Vonn. "Her confidence is going to be through the roof."

Woods, who has been dating the 30-year-old skier since March 2013, made Vonn's historic day more special as he surprised his girlfriend on Monday. Woods travelled to Italy to personally watch Vonn's attempt to break the record.

Vonn said that she had no idea Woods was planning to fly to Italy to watch her on Monday's super-G. The golf superstar wore a skeleton mask to hide his identity.

"I had no idea he was here," Vonn said via ESPN. "He told everyone to keep it a secret and I'm surprised. Normally no one can keep a secret in my family. He just showed up. He has a tournament soon. So he's got a lot of work and I'm surprised that he was able to come all the way over here for a few hours to watch me ski."

Vonn's victory on Sunday was her first win in super-G this season and fourth overall since returning from the knee injury. With her recent performances, Vonn is considered an early favorite to win the super-G and downhill at the 2015 World Championships in Vail and Beaver Creek, Colorado next month.
