On social media, many were criticizing Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez's weight, but the beauty queen defended herself.

People said the beauty queen was carrying some extra pounds and needed to get toned, according to Noticias Caracol via El Espectador.

"I don't eat like that," Gutierrez said. "You always have to take care of yourself to be perfect. I am not overweight. I feel perfect and I look really good in front of the cameras."

Despite fellow Colombian Paulina Vega only recently  being crowned Miss Universe, Gutierrez is already preparing for Miss Universe 2015. For Gutierrez, this means being on top of her diet at all times.

"Miss Universe requires a lot of effort and a perfect body," she explained.

Vega, who is Gutierrez's cousin, also faced controversy lately. Some did not believe she deserved to be named Miss Universe and thought Miss Jamaica Kaci Fennell was a stronger candidate. Many found Vega's answers unsatisfactory. When she was asked what women can learn from men, she said it was a difficult question.

"I've always said it: You've got to be authentic," she said during a press conference, according to TV y Novelas. "I'm a spontaneous person, very happy like many Colombians, and I showed that from the first day to the very last with my response when I said it was a difficult question."

Vega stood by her answers and said she would not change them. She also took the opportunity to compliment Miss Jamaica.

"I love her personality," she said about Fennell. "We spent the whole competition talking. We forgot that everyone was watching us, but I had an amazing time from beginning to end. That's what matters."

Gutierrez will continue being a fan of Vega and explained recently to Caracol that it was very special having Vega crown her.

"She gave me my crown in the past Miss Colombia competition, and it was very exciting," she said. "We are united, and we are all very proud of what Paulina has accomplished."
