Genesis Rodriguez Chosen as New Face of L'Oreal Paris Hair Color
You may not recognize the name Genesis Rodriguez just yet, but the actress has joined the ranks of stars like Jennifer Lopez and Eva Longoria as the latest face of L'Oreal Paris.
According to Popsugar, the Venezuelan and Cuban actress was named as the ambassador of the brand's Superior Preference hair color line earlier this year and represents the brand in the Latin market.
The actress has had few roles in mainstream American pop culture. Her biggest credits include voicing Honey Lemon in the animated film "Big Hero 6" and supporting roles in films like "Hours" and "What to Expect When You're Expecting." However, Rodriguez has appeared in various Telemundo telenovelas.
The 28-year-old actress spoke to Latina magazine about her partnership with the popular beauty brand and their #PowerOn campaign.
"I'm so proud to partner with L'Oreal Paris on the Advanced Haircare #POWERON campaign, " she said. "This women's empowerment initiative emerged from L'Oreal Paris' latest research...through #POWERON, we want to inspire women to experience the powerful feeling of beautiful hair every single day."
The daughter of Venezuelan singer José Luis Rodriguez, also known as "El Puma," the actress explained why the campaign was personal for her as a Latina.
"I can completely relate -- as a Latina, my hair has always taken center stage," she said.
"From ponytails to up-dos, my mom always made quite a production out of my hair because she was taught from an early age that a Latina's belleza stems from her locks. As a result, I've always felt a deep connection between how my hair looks on the outside and the way I feel on the inside. Quite honestly, when I'm having a good hair day, I feel like I can take on the world!"
The "Prisionera" actress, who also appeared in popular telenovela "Doña Barbara," hopes partnering with L'Oreal will help motivate Latinas become "strong, independent and unstoppable," while breaking stereotypes.
