Boxing great Manny Pacquiao should have been proclaimed the winner during his May 2 bout against the undefeated champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. in Las Vegas, if returning boxer and trainer Shane Mosley was asked.

"Sugar," who recently came out of retirement and defeated Ricardo Mayorga by a knockout in Inglewood in August, per BoxRec, shared his thoughts on World Boxing News why "Pacman" should have been given the honor of the first boxer to stain Mayweather's clean win-loss record that fateful night at the MGM Grand.

"I believe Manny Pacquiao may have won the fight if you look at the statistics for the fight, although nobody talks about it," Mosley said.

"Manny was in the red corner and the red corner won the fight as the red corner threw more punches. I also felt Manny threw more punches, but people just don't talk about the red corner winning the fight —which was Manny Pacquiao. So there is still a question mark about that," the 44-year-old boxer added.

An article from Boxing News 24 in May also gave a Mayweather-Pacquiao post fight statistical analysis and reported Pacquiao landed 98 of his 414 punches thrown as opposed to 68 punches over 471 punches served by Mayweather. Out of the 12 rounds, Mayweather only won five rounds, while "Pacman" got six, with the second as a "sway round."

Several videos posted on YouTube show the same sentiment that the Filipino icon clearly won the fight, especially if played in slow motion.

Legendary fighter Evander Holyfield also backs Pacquiao to be the winner, noted Breitbart.com.

Mayweather-Pacquiao 2?

Will a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao rematch be possible to hopefully give a clearer picture who really stands out between the two?

Pacquiao recently told ESPN Deportes that he is also hoping for a rematch against "The Money," Boxing Scene noted. However, the 36-year-old warrior thinks his next fight before he retires may most likely feature the British star Amir Khan.

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum confirmed to Yahoo! Sports that he is not even talking to Mayweather's camp, especially with the unbeaten champion's retirement from the game. He is just looking into other fighters to face "Pacman," including World Boxing Organization current welterweight title holder Timothy Bradley and WBO lightweight champ Terence Crawford.

However, just in case Mayweather comes back again next year to fight with "Pacman," the Filipino icon must heed the advice of his Mexican arch enemy Juan Manuel Marquez.

"Dinamita," a fighter beaten by Mayweather in 2009 via a unanimous decision, per BoxRec, states that the only way a boxer will win against "The Money" is via a knockout, a separate Boxing Scene article reported.
