Emmy Rossum, TV and movie actress, singer and songwriter, is known for being Shameless' Fiona Gallagher on television. She has also been in the movies The Day After Tomorrow, The Phantom of the Opera, You're Not You, Comet and Beautiful Creatures.

Emmy Rossum, whose real name is Emmanuelle Grey Rossum, was born in New York City, on Sept. 12, 1986 (making her a Virgo).  She was raised by her single Jewish mother, corporate photographer Cheryl Jossum (her father is a Protestant). At seven years old, Rossum was a member of the Metropolitan Opera Children's Chorus and she was a student at Spence School, an all-girls school in New York City. She later went on to Stanford University and Columbia University.

"I'm kinda more attracted to the nerd," she recently told People magazine. "I'm really into guys who are super smart and funny and can teach me something I don't know about." Her previous relationships included French heir and art dealer David Wildenstein, whom she dated from 2004-2005. She married Justin Siegel in 2008 before getting divorced in 2009. Later, she dated Adam Duritz of Counting Crows from 2009-2010. She then dated Shameless co-star Tyler Jacob Moore starting in 2011 but they broke up last year.

Rossum is a celiac and has said that she is "a spiritual person, but I'm not especially religious." Her music genre includes pop, pop/rock, dream pop and new age. She debuted on television as Alison Martin, a guest role on the Law & Order TV series in 1997.
