Justin Bieber Closes American Music Awards With Epic Finale
Justin Bieber closed out the 2015 American Music Awards on Sunday night with an epic finale.
The 21-year-old singer performed a medley of songs from his recently released album "Purpose," according to E! News.
Bieber opened the finale performance by singing a stripped-down version of his track "What Do You Mean?" with an acoustic guitarist accompanying him. Next, he transitioned into his song "Where Are Ü Now," joining a group of male dancers for a dance breakdown.
Lastly, he performed "Sorry" from under a huge waterfall, where he was joined by a group of female dancers. At the end of the performance, he took his hat off and ran his hand through his soaked blond hair.
Meanwhile, Bieber took home the award for Collaboration of the Year for "Where Are Ü Now," which also featured contributions from Diplo and Skrillex. For the award, the trio were up against Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again" featuring Charlie Puth and Rihanna; Kanye West's "FourFiveSeconds" featuring Paul McCartney; Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" featuring Kendrick Lamar and Mark Ronson; and Bruno Mars' "Uptown Funk!"
Additional winners of the night included One Direction, who took home the Artist of the Year award. They were competing against Luke Bryan, Ariana Grande, Maroon 5, Nicki Minaj, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Swift, Meghan Trainor and The Weeknd.
Swift also snagged the award for Song of the Year with her track "Blank Space." She went up against Khalifa's "See You Again" featuring Puth, Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud," The Weeknd's "Can't Feel My Face," and Ronson and Mars' "Uptown Funk!" for the honor.
Bieber recently topped the Billboard 200 chart with his new album, "Purpose," beating out One Direction's "Made in the A.M." He sold 649,000 total units in the first week of release.
Bieber released "Purpose," his fourth studio album, on Nov. 13. The album, which is the follow-up to 2012's "Believe," has produced the singles "What Do You Mean?" and "Sorry."
