Mixed martial arts fighter Ronda Rousey explains why she did not touch gloves prior to her UFC 193 fight against Holly Holm in Melbourne, Australia on Nov. 14 at UFC 193.

"Rowdy" told ESPN that something happened during the weigh-in before their fight that made her react that way to Holm.

"It was just like a reaction. I was like, 'The last time I saw you [at the weigh-in], you were putting your fist on my chin and trying to get a cheap hit on me, then you turn around and you want to touch gloves? You have to be one way or the other. So if you want to be that way with me, that's the way it is,'" Rousey said.

However, this kind of act was already perceived by many viewers as a disrespect to the former boxing champion and her opponent that night.

Even the "Poker Face" singer Lady Gaga had her say on this. Right after she was defeated, the high-profile music artist posted an image of the fight on Instagram with the caption, "That's what you get for not touching gloves!" written in all capital letters. The Grammy Award-winning singer suggested that Rousey had just been served with bad karma for her behavior.

Rousey's former foe, Cat Zingano, whom she reportedly defeated in 14 seconds in a bout in February, jumped to her defense.

"She didn't touch gloves? I've never touched gloves. I might give them some knuckles or whatever. But we're getting in a fistfight inside some fenced-in walls. You want there to be etiquette?" Zingano said.

Broken-hearted Rousey

More than the hurtful comments, Rousey lost her Ultimate Fighting Championship bantamweight title she successfully defended for six times. Rousey, who was confident that she would still be walking out of the stadium with her crown, suffered a devastating loss as Holm stopped the clock in the second round with 59 seconds remaining, The Guardian noted.

Although the battle between her and Holm only lasted a few minutes, her body still ached from the blows it received. Until now, she still cannot enjoy eating an apple with some of her teeth still feeling "unstable."

"It might be three to six months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact," she told ESPN.

Rousey is left tending a broken heart over her first defeat. Yet, she vows to come back and prove she can beat Holm when they meet again. Whether it will make her teeth pop, her jaw break or her lips to be ripped open, she does not care. She just yearns to avenge her loss, notes the site.
