Amazon is on a roll this week with the launch of two new products set to optimize the consumer experience.

"If you never had to type again on a phone that would be great," said Amazon's director of mobile shopping, Paul Cousineau in a recent Recode interview. He added, "We want you to go from 'I want that' to 'I bought that' in 30 seconds or 10 seconds ... a very short period of time."

On Wednesday, the electronic commerce company introduced the Amazon Fire TV digital media player that includes apps like Netflix, Hulu Plus, YouTube, and more. To learn more about the sleek set top box, click here.

On Friday, Amazon unveiled the Amazon Dash, a thin wand-like device designed to make grocery shopping a whole lot easier. The Amazon Dash, also known as the "magic wand," features a microphone and a barcode scanner to use while you shop.

Plus, it's absolutely free! But, there's a catch.

The 'Dash' device is only compatible with the Amazon Fresh grocery service. Consumers who opt to try the Dash will have to sign up for the free Amazon Fresh service, and Amazon will decide whether they will invite you into the exclusive Dash program.

With the Amazon Dash currently undergoing its trial mode, the service and device will only be available to Amazon shoppers in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Seattle... for now.

So how exactly does this grocery gadget work?

Amazon shoppers must connect the Dash to their home Wi-Fi network and ensure they have the latest version of the Amazon Fresh Android app in order for it to work. Once it is connected, Dash users use the barcode scanner or microphone to speak or scan items they want to purchase, and the Dash digitally adds the items to the users' personal AmazonFresh shopping list.

Upon completion of the shopping list, shoppers can schedule when they'd like their groceries delivered conveniently to their door.
