Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James crashed into the wife of PGA champion Jason Day on Thursday, during a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder at Quicken Loans Arena.

Ellie Day was treated and released from the hospital on Friday morning, hospital spokeswoman Tina Shaerban Arundel told the Associated Press.

James was attempting to save a loose ball during the fourth quarter, when the 6-foot-8, 250-pound athlete went careening into the woman, who was sitting next to her husband on the sidelines.

The game was momentarily halted until emergency personnel arrived, placing the woman on a stretcher with her head immobilized. She was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment.

James said he spoke with Day before she was carried off. "I squeezed her hand and she said she was OK," James said. "She was just a little weary."

The Cavs superstar dropped 33 points on the Thunder that night, leading his team to 104-100 victory. Still, James looked visibly concerned as he left the floor following the win.

"For me, obviously, her health is very important and hopefully she is doing well," James said. "The guys told me she's doing great now. For me, just going for a loose ball, tried to keep the possession going, I just hate that that was the end result."  Later James took to Twitter to apologize.

Pro golfer Jason Day, who lives in nearby Westerville, accompanied his wife as she was taken from the game. His family has sat courtside at Cleveland games in the past, including when his wife was pregnant with their second child, daughter Lucy Day.

Cavs Coach David Blatt suggested that the league should reconsider the risk of sideline seating at professional basketball games.

"The powers that be are the ones that really need to decide how to deal with that," Blatt said. "(James) made an honest attempt at the basketball, that's all, obviously. We all hope she's OK."
