Samsung's 2015 phablet gets a new update. A new Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware build is now available for Samsung Galaxy Note 5.

Particularly, the latest Android Lollipop patch is compatible with the N920C model of the Galaxy Note 5. Team Android shared that the patch contains bug fixes to improve security.

The report also noted that this is possibly the latest firmware to be officially released before Samsung rolls out the highly-anticipated Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Those who are interested to install the official Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS on Samsung Galaxy Note 5 can have the update via Over-the-Air or OTA process.

To check if the firmware is already available via OTA, Note 5 users can head to Settings and tap About Device Menu. Select Software Updates and a message will pop up after searching if a new firmware available.

Another official method available to update the smartphone with the latest build of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is through the desktop tool called Samsung KIES. However, the firmware updates via these processes are only available in select regions.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 users not eligible for the Android 5.1.1 update via KIES tool or OTA can opt for the manual installation process. This will entail, however, the use of Odin tool, Team Android explained.

Manual installation of the official firmware will require users to create a backup of all the important data and settings stored on the phablet. The battery level needs to be 80 percent or higher and the USB Debugging Mode should be enabled.

For those interested to install Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update manually can head to Team Android's post linked above. It also contains all the download links of all the installation files necessary for the update process.

The Samsung phablet has been available since its market release on August 2015. One of its remarkable specs, aside from the obligatory S Pen Stylus, is the Paypal-certified fingerprint sensor.

GSM Arena revealed that the 5.7-inch screen Samsung Galaxy Note 5 sports a Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen offering a 1440p x 2560p resolution.

The phablet, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4, has a 518-pixel density. Moreover, its screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Its primary cam is equipped with a 16 MP sensor while the secondary cam has 5MP lens sensor.

Looking under the hood, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will find an Exynos 7420 chipset paired with 4 GB of RAM. Consumers can choose from the 32GB variant or the 64 GB version of Samsung Galaxy Note 5, without provision for any memory expansion.
