Surface Pro 4 gets a new update. Microsoft sends out the firmware update via OTA.

A report from Phone Arena shared that the recently-released firmware for the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 improves the stability of the tablet when it is connected to the accessory called Type Cover. The firmware comes with build number 1.1.420.0.

Yahoo's report noted that the firmware brings in improvement to touchpad and keyboard. Accordingly, some users experienced issues such as slow boot with the keyboard attached.

Yahoo staff also reported that the "keyboard seems to work randomly, and only a reboot resolves the issue" and added that the Surface Pro 4 is "far from preferable for a device that should assist during stressful situations."

Users won't be able to receive this firmware update simultaneously. Rolling out via OTA or Over-the-Air, the Surface Pro 4 update is being released by Microsoft in phases.

Accordingly, the Type Cover add-on for the Surface Pro 4 functions not only as protection for the tablet but also as a physical QWERTY keyboard. This allows the users to easily transform their Microsoft slate into a laptop.

Type Cover is available via Microsoft Store for $129.99. The product description on the official online store noted that the "next generation of Type Cover, made for Surface Pro 4, offers the most advanced Surface typing experience yet."

It is also "thinner and lighter than before with improved magnetic stability for lap use," the description added. Type Cover is equipped with a "mechanical keyboard with optimal key spacing for fast and fluid typing, plus an enlarged track pad for precision control and navigation."
