Naughty Dog's highly anticipated new title, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, has been delayed for another month.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, creative director Neil Druckmann and game director Bruce Staley announced that Uncharted 4 will now launch on April 26, 2016.

"As we approached our final deadlines and started wrapping up the game's levels, we realized that several key sequences needed extra resources to bring them to the finish line," the devs wrote.

"After carefully considering all of our options, we decided to extend our schedule, making sure that we get a few more polish passes before submitting our gold master (the final disc for manufacturing)."

The devs apologized sincerely to the fanbase for what is now their second delay of a game originally slated for release this year's holiday season. While they said the decision was not an easy one, it was simply the best course of action in putting the polishing touches on what promises to be "the most ambitious installment in the Uncharted series" to date.

Fan reaction to the announcement ranged from massive disappointment, to general acceptance and understanding. Most fans felt confident that Naughty Dog knew what was best, especially given the studio's track record in delivering amazing games such as The Last of Us, and the first three Uncharted titles.

The developers have been putting a lot of effort into Uncharted 4's multiplayer as well. The recently released beta was well received by players, and the devs promise it will be even better upon release.

"Naughty Dog has an internal multiplayer team. We're given the reigns to create the multi-layer experiences we're interested in," said lead multiplayer designer, Robert Cogburn, in an interview with Gamespot. "We're seeing our community grow. Our player population from Uncharted 2 through The Last of Us has been continually expanding. We're not going to let that go. We want to create experiences that are unique to competitive games and the more we try it, the more we iterate on it for the future."
