It's been a while since the newly minted Windows 10 has been disseminated in the notebook community, but the mobile world hasn't been so lucky. While the acclaimed software of Microsoft has already made its way to the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, the rest of the Windows Phone 8 devices are still eagerly awaiting the arrival of Windows 10.

In a series of tweets on Lumia Help's Twitter account, Microsoft revealed that the update is set to be available soon, TechnoBuffalo reports.

"We're working to make Windows 10 available to eligible Lumia smartphones running Windows Phone 8.1 as an upgrade," the company said on Twitter. "If your Lumia is eligible for the upgrade, we'll let you know when it's ready."

Aside from the assurance that Windows 10 availability will push through for the Lumia devices, the company also revealed more details about the incoming update that will bring the software to the mobile phones. There is a minimum memory requirement and not all of the features are expected to be available across the entire roster of handsets.

"8 GB of internal memory required," the official statement on Twitter added. "Like any upgrade to a new operating system, not every phone will support all possible Windows 10 features. Certain features and experiences will require more advanced future hardware."

According to a report from Phone Arena, not all Windows phone will reportedly be able to upgrade to Windows 10. Only the handsets loaded with loaded with Lumia Denim or OS version 8.10.14219.341 are eligible for updating to the new software. The report also confirmed how to find out the current software release available for the phone, which includes going to "Settings" and "Extras + Info" on the handset.

The mobile update was originally set for December 2015, but it was delayed to 2016, according to a report from ZDNet. The company did not confirm a specific date for its arrival on mobile, but they assured it will be early this year.

"This November we introduced Windows 10 to phones including brand new features such as Continuum and Universal Windows Apps with the introduction of the Lumia 950 and 950 XL," Microsoft said in an official statement. "The Windows 10 Mobile upgrade will begin rolling out early next year to select existing Windows 8 and 8.1 phones."

Even without conquering the mobile market yet, Microsoft's Windows 10 has already been wildly successful as it was marked in 164 million PCs worldwide by metrics vendor Net Applications, according to a report from PC World.
