General Motors have confirmed that Chevrolet Bolt EV will be available to green-friendly consumers and enthusiasts at the end of 2016. The 2017 Bolt EV will be unveiled at the International Consumer Electronics Show or CES in Las Vegas, Nevada on Wednesday, Jan. 6.

Chevrolet will be working with Facebook to debut its EV, becoming the first auto brand to work with the social media company using Facebook Live. GM describes the Bolt as "a game-changing, long-range electric vehicle" that has an estimated range of 200 miles with a price less than $30,000 after tax credits, per Chevrolet.com.

"The Bolt EV truly embodies the ingenuity that is at the core of everything we do at Chevrolet. The technologies and the engineering expertise behind the Bolt EV are tremendous examples of the kind of innovation we intend to offer our customers, across an array of products at a tremendous value, something only Chevrolet can deliver," President of General Motors North America and Head of Global Chevrolet, Alan Batey said in a press release.

The new Chevy Bolt is the first EV to offer a 200-mile range on a single battery charge at a very affordable price. According to Hybrid Cars, the Bolt has a maximum speed of more than 90 miles per hour with an expected output of about 150 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque, as well as a rumored 40 kWh motor.

It is expected to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in seven seconds just like the BMW i3 and Chevy Spark EV. The battery will take 45 minutes to recharge from 0 to 80 percent, with higher charging powers than the Chademo DC charger.

The exterior structure is made of aluminium, carbon fiber and mineral magnesium and the design is mostly based on the 2016 version. The front of the vehicle features a vertical bumper, a slender grille and LED headlights while its rear has a C-pillar with a floating roof design, per Nice Car Info.

As for the interior, it has a 10.2-inch LCD touchscreen in the middle of the dashboard that include entertainment features and technical displays for battery state, miles travelled and the miles left in its range. It also has a keyless ignition feature where an app is used to start the car and drive the vehicle in and out of a garage.

Besides 2017 Bolt EV, Chevrolet will also be lining up the all-new 2016 Volt, 2016 Malibu Hybrid and Spark EV, offering its patrons more affordable options than any other major automotive brand to cement its position as the leaders in EV production.
