Pokemon is celebrating its 20 year anniversary in video games this year. In February, a special New Nintendo 3DS bundle will be released that will include Pokemon Red Pokemon Blue pre-installed and two special cover plates for the portable game console.

Pokemon is re-releasing the classic Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue games from 1996 in digital form, Polygon reports. To help celebrate 20 years since these two games were released, the special New Nintendo 3DS bundle will go on sale Feb. 27.

The New Nintendo 3DS bundle will also come with a download code that allows players to change their home theme to a special Pokemon design.

In Japan, players will have the option of four different Nintendo 2DS bundles to celebrate the Red, Blue, Yellow and Green editions of the game.

Pokemon players who own Pokemon Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, X or Y will also be able pick up special Pokemon characters one-by-one at GameStop events. Players have the chance to pick up Mew, Darkrai, Arceus and Genesect. Also on Feb. 27, players will be able to purchase some of the bestselling Pokemon amiibo characters at select retailers. The bestselling characters are Charizard, Jigglypuff, Greninja, Lucario and Pikachu.

New Pokemon trading cards are also coming in February. Booster packs and the Mythical Pokemon Collection will all start appearing next month.

Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue were originally sold for the Nintendo Game Boy back in 1996. Players were challenged with trying to catch all 150 "pocket monsters" called Pokemon. Pokemon is a role-playing game (RPG) that involves adventure, fighting and magic. Since Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue, many new games have come out and the roster of Pokemon keeps increasing.

The Nintendo New 3DS was only available in one bundle, the Animal Crossing Bundle, before this special Pokemon bundle was announced.
