The Powerball winning numbers for Jan. 13, 2016 with a $1.5 billion jackpot are 8-27-34-4-19 and Powerball Number, 10. The odds were stacked for everyone because of a 1-in-292.2 million chance of winning the jackpot.

According to Jon Passantino of Buzz Feed News, the record jackpot of $1.5 billion has one lucky winner and the ticket was purchased somewhere in California. State lottery officials then revealed the winning ticket was sold in Chino Hills, Los Angeles Times reported.

The California Lottery Association, who reported the first winner, also announced that two more tickets sold in Florida and Tennessee also won the largest lottery jackpot in American history, as reported by CNN. The $1.5 billion will be split among the three winners and each will have the freedom to choose how they will receive the prize money, either by lump sum or payments in a 30-year span.

Wednesday's lottery jackpot started at just $40 million back on Nov. 7 and reached the historic $1.5 billion after no winners were able to get all six numbers the past 19 draws, per the New York Times

In a report by CNBC, the lucky winners will be facing large federal taxes with the winners from Florida and Tennessee having no personal income tax. The California winner is exempted from state income tax because the ticket was purchased within the state.

The $1.5 billion Powerball craze has taken over the nation with people from all walks of life taking chances to win the largest lottery prize in history. Even athletes who make millions like New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony and Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin tried their luck, FOX Sports reported.
