Madonna was so overwrought with emotion following her tribute performance for the late David Bowie that she collapsed on the stage. The singer took to the stage in Houston, Texas on Tuesday, where she sang one of Bowie's songs.

Madonna sang "Rebel Rebel" in honor of the deceased Bowie during her "Rebel Heart" tour in Houston. The singer sang a fierce version of the 1974 song as tribute to the music legend, whom she had considered as an inspiration to her career.

A video of her concert in Houston has been shared on YouTube. Before singing "Rebel Rebel," Madonna spoke a few words about Bowie.

"He was one of the geniuses in the music industry, one of the greatest singer-songwriters of the 20th century and he changed my life when I went to see him in concert in Detroit. He showed me that it was OK to be different. And he's the first 'rebel heart' that I laid eyes on," she said in the video posted below by YouTuber Phil Rodriguez.

Madonna danced, head banged and twirled her way through her performance of Bowie's "Rebel Rebel." A collage of the music legends' photos were also shown on a projector during her performance. Madonna also got the support of her audience as they clapped along as she walked the stage and shook her body.

Following her energized performance, Madonna slumped to the floor. The video below shows the singer slumped on the stage after her tribute to Bowie. She was briefly seen on her knees and appeared to have cried as well.

Madonna also took to her Instagram page to bid her farewell to the music icon, who became to be known with the nickname Ziggy Stardust. She shared three photos of Bowie and expressed how devastated she feels over his death.

In one photo tribute, Madonna said Bowie changed her life after seeing his concert in Detroit. She also called the late artist unique, talented, game changer and genius in another picture of Bowie. She wrote, "Your Spirit Lives on Forever" along with the singer's photo. She also shared a photo of them together on her Instagram.

Madonna is among the Hollywood celebrities who have shared their tribute for Bowie. Colleagues from the music industry, actors and actresses and fans of the singer, all expressed their sadness at his passing.

“Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn wrote a meaningful and personal tribute to the singer on his Facebook page. Fans also expressed their sadness over Bowie’s death through a petition in Change.org called “Say No To David Bowie Dead.”
