Pete Rose is finally in the Hall of Fame, sort of.

The Cincinnati Reds inducted "Charlie Hustle" into their franchise Hall of Fame this week. Rose is still banned from Major League Baseball's Hall of Fame, however. Rose has been banned for decades because of his involvement in gambling on the game. It was discovered that Rose not only bet on baseball as a general manager, but as a player as well.

Rose is still the all-time hit king with 4,256 career hits, and he did lead the Reds to two World Series titles. Rose led the league in hits seven times in his MLB career, and even helped the Philadelphia Phillies win the World Series in 1980.

"Inducting Pete into the Reds Hall of Fame will be a defining moment in the 147-year history of this storied franchise. He is one of the greatest players to ever wear a Reds uniform and it will be an unforgettable experience watching him being honored as such," said Reds CEO Bob Castellini.

Rose and his attorneys have tried numerous times to get reinstated to MLB, but has had no such luck. Rose's ban has also sparked a nationwide debate. Many feel as if MLB is making the right decision because Rose broke the cardinal rule in baseball, and he lied about it for years. Meanwhile, some baseball fans feel as if Rose should be reinstated. Rose is one of the greatest hitters ever, and he will always be remembered for his hustle.

After a brief stint with the Montreal Expos, Rose returned to the Reds for the last three years of his career. Rose played for the Reds until he was 45 years old. Rose still holds the record for most hits, games played, plate appearances and at bats.
