The virtual reality market is expected to make serious waves in 2016, but it still depends a lot in the features, price range and such. Sony's offer in this new industry is called the PlayStation VR, the price of which has been leaked online recently, taking the players one step closer to a new world in gaming lifestyle.

According to a report from Destructoid, a poster at the Neogaf forums was able to spot the new gaming equipment listed in three different Swiss websites at the cost of €450 to €500 or $435 to $544. Although Sony has not confirmed this yet, it seems to be a more affordable virtual reality option than its most recent competitor Oculus Rift, which is reportedly priced at $600.

Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House has already hinted at the price range of PlayStation VR last year, telling Bloomberg that the headset will have the same cost as the new gaming platform. The executive added that the rising technology changes manufacturing and production.

"VR rewrites the rule book on how you can create games," House explained. "You're seeing a large amount of interest and work happening among smaller teams, because it's possible to create something in VR that is very simple but still very magical."

The PlayStation VR is setting up to be an integral part of Sony's future and even the retailers are confident in the technology and games ahead of its release. According to a report from Game Spot, GameStop CEO Paul Raines talked about virtual reality during the ICR Conference 2016 in Orlando earlier this month.

The retailer will play a big part in the development of virtual reality in the market as he said their stores will be a place where players can procure the various products for virtual reality. Raines added, "And it will come with a variety of accessories, by the way -- there'll be goggles and gloves and motion [controllers] and all kinds of things. So it's very promising in a lot of ways."

While GameStop's head did not dish on his preference among the various headsets PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, Raines did say that Sony boasts the best content out of the three.

"The more important thing will be the title count at launch," he said. "I think that's going to be big. And from what we can see at this point, Sony seems to have the strongest title count."
