Fox recently aired the first episode of its new series 'Lucifer.' The series follows Satan who takes residence in Los Angeles.

Latin Post had the opportunity to speak with star Kevin Alejandro of the show. Alejandro plays the character of Dan, who must go on a journey to win back his family.

Alejandro has an extensive TV background and has worked on such shows as "True Blood," "Casadega," "The Returned" and "Arrow."

Latin Post: How did you get involved with Lucifer

Kevin Alejandro: It came to me right after my last show. It was pitched to me and I loved everything they had to say about the show and I thought it was really sexy and something I could really sink my teeth into. So I was on board pretty immediately.

LP: So I guess you didn't have to do any auditions?

KA: No, I am fortunate to have worked with so many people involved. I think all these elements came out properly.

LP: Can you tell me a little about the character of Dan and what audiences can expect?

KA: Dan is a detective and he is such a workaholic. What's really important to him is his wife and children.  He's focused on his work but he soon realizes that he has to go on his journey to try and gain their affections back. So he goes through really hard time.

LP: How is this character different and similar to you?

KA: There are a lot of similarities because I have played police officers and detectives in the past, which has been really great for this role because I have so much training with the LAPD and the NYPD. I think all the tools that I was able to be exposed to really helped out with my ability and the situation that calls for any sort of leadership qualities when it comes to solving a case or figuring out what's going on. So that has definitely been a strong similarity. But the difference is that it's the most human when he gets to be in a relationship. I think the audience will really be able to follow his arc and want to root for him to win back the affection of his family.

LP: Does it have anything similar to your character and the way you are in real life?

KA: I am personally a family man and as Kevin Alejandro, I am constantly trying to figure out ways to make my family laugh or be the best father and husband. So I translate a lot of my own personal references to hopefully represent themselves properly or whatever challenges the script provides me.

LP: What is the experience of working with your cast mates on this set?

KA: Everyone on this show has been great. From the writers to the crew to the cast, everyone has been great. Everyone is fantastic and they work so hard. They are in every morning and they are ready to go. They inspire me to up my game as well. That being said on a funnier note, the leads keep the set light and everyone is really willing to be around them because they have so much charisma and the experience.

LP: Being on set, have the hours been long and have there been tough days?

KA: I think with any job that you get your going to experience those moments. I think the biggest challenges that we have out here, shooting in Vancouver, is trying to make it look like L.A. Unfortunately the season that we're shooting in, it rains a lot more than it does in L.A. So when we're shooting outside, we have to wait until the rain lets up and it's also freezing.  So those make for longer evenings and make for a challenge for the crew.

LP: How has this set been different from others you've worked on?

I've been fortunate to work on great projects and every job change, there are going to be differences. That is one of the things that I love what I do. It's an opportunity to establish new relationships, meet new people and try to figure out how everyone has a different process and try to work with everyone. So I've really enjoyed what's going on with these guys.

LP: You have an extensive background in TV, is that something you want to continue to do?

I would love to do both film and TV at the same time. I love doing television because you have more time to go on a really long journey and that's one of the things I love. By the time you're through with the series you really know and understand the person you're playing. Of course I love film but I love to work. So whatever project comes my way that I feel that I can do I will take it.
