Florinda Meza sent a message to her fans

Mexican actress Florinda Meza has returned to social media, firing back at rumors about her health and criticizing how she is portrayed in HBO's new biographical series Chespirito: Sin Querer Queriendo.

In the series, her character is played by Bárbara López under the name Margarita Ruíz, a decision made to avoid legal issues, as Meza did not authorize the use of her identity in the production. The actress and Roberto Gómez Bolaños "Chespirito" maintained a romantic relationship, initially extramarital and then professional, for several decades. However, the episodes of the series that have been released have shown how that romance began, and criticism and attacks against Meza were immediate.

Although the producers of the series, among whom is Chespirito's son, Roberto Gómez Fernández, assure that they stuck to reality, the actress, known for her character of Doña Florinda in El Chavo del Ocho , assures that "things did not happen like that", in reference to the scenes about how the Mexican comedian's marriage to his first wife Graciela Fernández ended and his romance with her.

And according to a friend, she told the Mexican press about both the "distortion of the story" and the attacks on social media. The source claimed she was depressed and experiencing anxiety.

Florinda Meza's response

Chespirito's widow, however, seemed uncomfortable with her friend's statements and decided to respond to her very sarcastic style with a carousel of photos from New York, published on her Instagram account and to the rhythm of the iconic version of New York, New York , by the great American balladeers Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett.

"For those who are concerned about my health... Cheers!" wrote Florinda Meza, looking radiant and elegantly dressed, as she usually does. At 76, the artist and television producer looks as beautiful as ever.

The 'Chespirito' series
