Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray will face off in the 2016 Australian Open final on Sunday at Rod Laver Arena.

Road to 2016 Australian Open Final

Djokovic, who is eyeing his sixth Australian Open title, defeated rival Roger Federer of Switzerland in the semifinals in four sets, which came two days after scoring a straight-set victory against Kei Nishikori of Japan in the quarterfinals. The top-seeded Serb also defeated 14th seed Gilles Simon and 28th seed Andreas Seppi earlier in tournament.

Murray, who will be playing in his sixth Australian Open final but is still looking to win the title for the first time, needed to bounce back from 1-2 deficit against 13th seed Milos Raonic of Canada in the semifinals to book a date with Djokovic. Before winning against Raonic, he dispatched eighth seed David Ferrer of Spain in the quarterfinals.

Head-to-Head Record

Djokovic and Murray have meet 30 times since 2006. As expected, Djokovic has dominated their rivalry, winning in 21 of their 30 meetings, Match Stat indicated. The top-seeded Serb defeated Murray in 10 of their last 11 matches, including the 2015 Australian Open Final.

While he is behind in their head-to-head matchup, Murray, who has lost in all four Australian Open matches against Djokovic, is confident of his chances. But the second-seeded Briton knows he need to sustain his energy in order to have a good chance of pulling off an upset.

"The most important thing for me is to sustain my level for long enough, not just for one set here or there, a few games here or there," Murray said. "I need to do it, you know, for a very long period if I want to get the win."

Based on their recent meetings, Djokovic is a heavy favorite heading into their final showdown on Sunday, but the top-ranked player in the world is not thinking too much of the odds.

"When I hear predictions that are positive, of course, it does flatter and add to your confidence," Djokovic told Sky Sports. "But you can't get carried away with that, if you know what I mean."
