Are you in the mood for love? Or perhaps you're just looking for a fun night out? Either way, put down those Cheetos, get off the couch and pick up your smartphone. It's dating time -- app style!

But the only thing harder than picking up a hot date is deciding how to start your hunt. That's because with so many dating apps to choose from on Apple's App Store and Google's Android Marketplace, there are bound to be some bad apples (pardon the pun) to go along with a few more classy alternatives. After all, you don't want to wind up being catfished like Manti Te'o.

iOS Dating Apps:

Coffee Meets Bagel

Called online dating meets Groupon by Wired magazine online this zany site is a surefire way to get a hot date. One reviewer states that "CMB produces great matches with, gasp, normal people." It does so by giving you one "bagel" per day at noon to say yes or no to. Like the other apps listed below, it sets you up with friends of friends (by using your Facebook friends list of course).

Android Dating Apps:

Krush

Great name, huh? Krush is all about setting you up on the perfect rendezvous. In conjunction with your Facebook account, Krush will crawl through your friends lists trying to find the perfect match. And everyday at 7 p.m. sharp, the app will give you a listing of 10 eligible bachelors or bachelorettes to choose from. If someone is rejected by you, they are let down easily and anonymously.

Non-platform specific Dating Apps:

Tinder

You'll need a Facebook account for this dating app as well, so if you're sensing a trend here, well, you probably wouldn't be wrong. The premise of tinder is not unlike CMB or Krush. The app gives you five random friends' pictures to like or dislike. LAPTOP Magazine calls it the "straight Grindr." So yeah, a lot of hookups happen because of this app. Maybe not so much dating?

OkCupid Dating

Arguably the most well-known dating service on this list, OkCupid is more of the traditional online dating experience. It offers search functionality by allowing you, the user, to set specific criteria. So you choose who you want to see rather than have random matches sent your way.

Feeling lonely? Get to dating! These apps are totally free so you have no excuses not to use one of 'em.
