Six people were injured after a gunman opened fire at a FedEx warehouse in Georgia early Tuesday morning.

The workplace shooting took place around 5:45 a.m. at a Kennesaw FedEx facility. According to Cobb County Police Sgt. Dana Pierce, the shooter arrived at the facility near the Cobb County Airport at 1675 Airport Road and started shooting at people. Some witnesses told 11Alive that the suspect was a baggage handler.

Police say the gunman, who has not been identified, then died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was found in the Bay Area of the warehouse with a weapon.

The six injured people were taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, ABC News affiliate WSB-TV reported. Hospital spokesman Tyler Pearson told ABC News that some of the victims are in surgery, while it is also being reported that one victim is in critical condition.

Cobb County police and federal agents from Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms along with FBI bomb technicians are investigating the warehouse. Police search dogs are also being used to comb through the entire warehouse.

Around 7:20 a.m., FedEx spokesman Scott Fiedler released a statement saying, "FedEx is aware of the situation. Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of our team members, first responders and others affected. FedEx is cooperating with authorities."

The spokesman also told CNN that "The situation is now stabilized and we are focused on the needs of our team members and cooperating with the law enforcement investigation of this tragedy."

Investigators also earched the area for secondary devices, said Cobb County Police Officer Mike Bowman.
