The road to "WWE Money in the Bank" continued in Virginia with the latest "WWE SmackDown" taping.

Money in the Bank Promotion

The show opened with Michael Cole in the ring as he interviews Dean Ambrose, who qualified for the Money in the Bank briefcase ladder match during the last "Monday Night Raw." Kevin Owens interrupts the segment and ordered Cole out of the ring. Sami Zayn also appears and all say how each will win the briefcase ladder match. Alberto Del Rio comes out next and says he'll be the next winner as he has a qualifying match next against Zack Ryder.

Del Rio defeated Ryder in a competitive match, therefore advancing to the Money in the Bank ladder match.

How You Doin' on "SmackDown"

Big Cass and Enzo Amore are next for a promo. The Dudley Boyz interrupt but not much occur as they walk away from a potential match.

United States Championship Match

WWE United States Champion Rusev successfully defended his championship against Kalisto. After the match, Titus O'Neil makes the save for Kalisto, likely indicating O'Neil is next in line for a title shot.

Dana Brooke vs. Natalya ended quickly as WWE Women's Champion Charlotte attacked Natalya. Brooke and Charlotte both attack Natalya to end the segment.

Sad Styles

Backstage, AJ Styles is interviewed and asked what's next for him following his loss against WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and losing a spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match qualifying match last "Monday Night Raw." Styles said he doesn't know what's next and walked away.

In more tag team competition, Tyler Breeze and Fandango defeated Goldust and R-Truth.

In a segment that's unknown if it'll air on television just yet, Seth Rollins appeared and says it's great to be back on "SmackDown." He then criticized fans and walks away after a short segment.

Main Event: Intercontinental Championship Match

For the main event, WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz defended his title against Cesaro. Miz retained the title and the show ended with him and Maryse celebrating.

"WWE SmackDown" airs weekly on Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST.
