Nowadays Jessica Alba may be the poster child for powerful female entrepreneurs but her image wasn't always that ideal.

In the July 2016 issue of InStyle, the actress talks about what it was like to try and adjust to being a sex symbol as a teen and then trying to escape that public persona.

Since her role in "Dark Angel," Alba played a string of roles that all revolved around being the hot girl including, "Honey," "Into The Blue and "Sin City."

"My sexuality made me very uncomfortable," she told the magazine. "I remember my first Maxim shoot, they were telling me to pose a certain way, and I was like, 'Agh! I'm 19. I'm a virgin. I don't even know how to do that.' It was so awkward."

She also revealed having a life crisis when realizing that she needed to move away from the stereotype that many actresses fall into because, despite the popularity it brings, it later affects their ability to be cast into serious roles that aren't solely based on looks.

"This isn't what I set out to be. I'm so much more than this, but I don't know how not to be a sex symbol," she said.

With a family of her own, several fashion ventures and The Honest Company, now one of the most successful lifestyle and product companies, Alba has reinvented her image.
