The iPhone and iPhone 7 Plus have finally arrived. Company officials formally unveiled their latest creation with plenty of fanfare at an early Wednesday morning gathering in California and with pre-orders available as of today, September 9, 2016, people will soon be able to get their hands on Apple's flagship device.

To iPhone loyalists the new models will undoubtedly bear a striking resemblance to last year's iPhone 6S and even the iPhone 6 before that. But some differences are simply too big to ignore. But will they switch over? Here we add a poll to measure how many people among our audience got caught with the fanfare and will make the switch to the new device.

Water Resistant

Among the most celebrated changes is the fact all the latest models are now water resistance and feature dual cameras with stereo speakers.

The iPhones 7s also feature a darker color scheme, though buyers will also have the option of purchasing gold, silver and rose colored models. Another difference is the latest models are not equipped with a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, instead offering a second speaker, which accounts for more of a phone stereo type sound.

Touted as the most powerful chip ever installed in a smartphone, the new, custom-designed Apple A10 Fusion chips used are also described as allowing more time between charges and providing the "longest battery life ever in an iPhone."

The A10 Fusion's CPU also has four cores, two of which that run up to twice as fast as the iPhone 6. Graphics performance is also enhanced, running up to three times faster than iPhone 6 at as little as half the power.

Preorders Available

The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will be in stores on Sept. 16, but preorders can be placed as early as Sept. 9, with the iPhone 7 (32 GB of storage or double the amount formally used in the base model) starting at $649. For an extra $200, customers can get as much as 256 GB of storage.

The larger iPhone 7 Plus starts at $769 for the 32GB version and goes up to $969 for the top model and more storage capacity model.
