Released on the Playstation Experience weekend on December 3, the cinematic trailer featured series newcomer Mega Man X and Ryu up against Iron Man and Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers), another newcomer to the franchise, in a two on two battle.

It also revealed two of the Infinity Gems, with Ryu using the Power stone to send Iron Man flying, and Captain Marvel powering up with the Time stone to counter Ryu's attack. And with the game now named Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, it seems that it will be working alongside the Infinity War that the MCU is cooking.

According to GamenGuide, aside from the use of all six Infinity Gems (Power, Space, Reality, Mind, Time and Soul) of Marvel lore, the game will go back to its two on two system, as the trailer suggests. A third character will be available to do assists, just like the first Marvel vs Capcom game. A new story will also be used for the game, which would explain the reason of the clash and their goal in winning.

Character-wise, only six characters were confirmed at the moment. Aside from the four seen on the trailer, another gameplay trailer featured Captain America and Morrigan teaming up, which strongly suggests that they will be included on the roster. And since it seems that the game is leaning towards the MCU franchise, some of its characters may appear on the game as well, Kotaku adds. The end of the trailer also hinted a new final boss for the game, which is scheduled for a 2017 release.

MvC: Infinite will be the eighth title in the crossover lineup between Marvel and Capcom. Starting with X-Men vs Street Fighter in 1996, it continued the tradition of pitting characters from both studios in epic battles. The Infinity Gems, on the other hand, was first utilized on a fighting game in 1995's Marvel Super Heroes, which was developed by Capcom.
