The 13-inch Apple MacBook that packed 2.0GHz dual-core i5 processor, 256GB SSD and 8GB RAM, with the stylish and modern appearance is a pretty beastly partner for any computing needs. The 15-inch variant that houses 2.6 Ghz quad-core i7 processor, 256 GB SSD, and 16GB of RAM is even more beastly that users will not need to replace their machine for another year or two.

But this is not how the Consumer Reports perceive the Apple Macbook Pro. Consumer Reports, one of the most thorough publications performing testing on laptops, said that Apple's new MacBook Pros have problems with inconsistent battery life. As such, it denied the device its recommendation, reported Business Insider.

“For instance, in a series of three consecutive tests, the 13-inch model with the Touch Bar ran for 16 hours in the first trial, 12.75 hours in the second, and just 3.75 hours in the third,” read Consumer Reports’ rationale. “The 13-inch model without the Touch Bar worked for 19.5 hours in one trial but only 4.5 hours in the next. And the numbers for the 15-inch laptop ranged from 18.5 down to 8 hours.”

Usually, a laptop’s battery life may vary from one trial to another by less than five percent. But with the wide difference of the result of the trials that CR has observed, the MacBook Pro 2016 became the first Apple MacBook to not receive a recommendation.

CR’s decision was rooted from the fact that battery life inconsistencies inevitably cause problems to devices. This can lead into work disturbances, as the battery life expectancy of the machine is not constant. It can also lead to unexpected shutdowns, quick laptop battery depreciation, or some other hardware failures.

Apple still has no statement for this issue, but some internet folks suggested that the fix for the battery life problem may come with Apple’s software updates on the MacBook Pro. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
