"King of Queens" actress and former "The Talk" co-host Leah Remini sat down to speak with Ellen Degeneres about leaving the Church of Scientology and a about new project that she is involved in following her departure.

During her sit down with Degeneres on Wednesday, Remini revealed that leaving the Church of Scientology brought her and her family closer together.

"We're learning new ways to reconnect with each other, so it really has brought us closer together," she said.

Prior to he exit, Remini had been a member of the Church of Scientology for over 30 years, TV Guide reported.

According to the Daily Mail, Remini's decision to leave was due to her claim of alleged abuse within the scientology church by its leader David Miscavige.

Another reason was that Remini's daughter Sofia was approaching her 10th birthday, which is when Sofia would be audited by the scientology church.

Through the scientology auditing process, members are believed to eventually rid themselves of "spiritual distress" and restore spiritual balance.

Now that Remini is scientology free, she is working on a new TLC reality show called, "The Leah Remini Project," that documents her life with he family post-scientology.

She revealed that the show is "something that the family loves to do."

Well...most of the time at least.

Remini also admitted that having the TLC camera crew around 24/7 did get a bit strenuous.

"I don't need 25 people in my house everyday," she said.

Despite her difficult time with the Church of Scientology, Remini looked happy and chic sitting on Ellen Degeneres' famous red couch. The brunette beauty wore a white mini-dress with netting at the bottom.

Her hair was light curled and worn to the side with some subtle blonde highlights. It's great to hear this former "Dancing With the Stars" contestant doing well.
