The National Football League team owners are composed of some of the world's richest and most influential business personalities.

The National Football League is one of the most popular sports leagues in the United States. Among the four major leagues that are mostly followed by sports Fans, NFL is the most expensive and has team franchises that are worth billions of dollars.

In 2019, it was found that the average NFL team has a value of $2.86 billion. This means that only those who have wide investments in business can afford to own a team in the biggest league in America.

One of the rules of the NFL to make sure that billionaires can buy a team in the league and that the team can sustain, is by not allowing firms or corporate entities to have major control in the franchise. It must be an individual. 

Moreover, according to the rules these individuals who want to have major control of the team's franchise must pay in cash 30 percent of the team's overall value. This clearly shows that only billionaires and the richest persons of the world can afford to have a team in the NFL. 

Here are some of the richest team owners in the NFL according to a published report in Fox News:

David Tepper- Owner, Carolina Panthers

Tepper bought the NFL team Carolina Panthers for around $2.2 billion and assumed major control of the team in 2018. His source of wealth is through his private equity fund, Appaloosa Management. His net worth at present is $12 billion. Recently, Tepper has also earned a team franchise in one of the country's other major leagues, soccer. He bought the soccer team from Charlotte.

Stan Kroenke- Owner, Los Angeles Rams

Stan Kroenke is a well-known sports investor and owner. He owned the Las Angeles Rams, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, and the Arsenal in the soccer league. It is to no surprise that he has enough money to buy and own these teams as he is married to Ann Walton, the heiress of Walmart. At present, he has an estimated net worth of $9.7 billion.

Jerry Jones- Owner, Dallas Cowboys

When Jerry Jones bought the Dallas Cowboys in 1989, the value of the team was only around $150 million. Decades later, the value of the team has spiked to $5.5 billion and is now considered as one of the most valuable teams in the NFL. He also has several holdings in the commodities sector and a co-founder of the Legends Hospitality. At present, his estimated net worth is $8.3 billion.

Shahid Khan- Owner, Jacksonville Jaguars

The source of wealth of Shahid Khan is in his investment in the auto-parts sector. He is now one of the most outspoken owners in the league and heads the expansion of the NFL in the United Kingdom. It can be recalled that in the previous report of Latin Post, Jaguars are scheduled to have two games in London. At present his estimated net worth is $8.2 billion.

Stephen Ross- Owner, Miami Dolphins

Stephen Ross is a very well-known person in real estate. He has various real estate developments such as stakes in Equinox and SoulCycle Fitness Chains. He bought the Miami Dolphins in 2008 and at present his estimated net worth is $7.6 billion.
