At least two dead and four injured were found at a Walmart distribution center in Red Bluff, California, on Saturday after a man reportedly drove into the distribution center and shot people.

The shooting took place at around 3 p.m. PT, Red Bluff's City Manager Rick Crabtree, told CNN in a report.

Dispatchers received multiple calls reporting an active shooter, and numerous gunshots heard in the distribution center, said the spokesperson of the Tehama County Sheriff's Office Yvette Borden.

Crabtree said the car rammed into the center, starting a fire that "wasn't very significant."

A 51-year-old Walmart distribution employee Franklin Lister said he heard dozens of gunshots, around 50 to 60, as the employees fled the building to the nearest fire exit, New York Times reported.

He recalled one of the employees shouting, "Active gunfire! Active shooter!" with blood dripping from his arm when he realized it wasn't a drill.

The employees heard the gunshots and picked up speed, helping each other over a barbed-wire fence.

Media relations manager for Dignity Health North State Allison Hendrickson said St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff, part of Dignity Health, had admitted six patients from the Walmart distribution center.

Hendrickson did not disclose the nature of the injuries or the ages of those brought to the hospital.

Emergency dispatchers, as reported by WUSA9, said the man had an "AR-type weapon."

Borden said the scene had undergone an initial sweep by law enforcement officers looking for the shooter and possible victims, but the view is still very active, and clearing the building is still in progress.

It's not clear if the responding law enforcers shot the suspect.

Walmart said they are aware of the situation and are working with law enforcers to investigate.

Red Bluff is a city about 131 miles north of Sacramento and has a population of about 14,000.
